The nuthatch was standing still, bill pointed straight towards the sky as though she wanted to avoid snow piling up on her head. After I took this photo, she flew in and took the largest peanut in the shell and carried it back to her spot in the tree to split it open. I guess that’s why they’re called nuthatches.
