I love irruption years when arctic visitors come all the way down to northern Illinois and visit our home feeders. So, the Common Redpolls arrived, fed on seeds of their favorite trees here, then as the seeds became less available, the redpolls began showing up at feeders of homes in our area. That’s exciting. Such a thrilling emotion when the first one appears.
