Description

I’ve only seen a Brown Thrasher twice in the last 9 years, so it is rare that I even have a chance to get a photo. These shots aren’t the best quality, but I’m glad that I had the chance to get them.

Hi Bob…Congrats on the Brown Thrasher….It’s been years since I seen a one also.

Bob Vuxinic says:

I still get excited when I see a new, or a rarely seen, bird!!

Aleene Jones says:

Me too.
Do you think that Fox Sparrows are becoming endangered? There seem to be very few sightings.

Aleene Jones says:

Sorry, I meant to say Brown Thrasher.

Bob Vuxinic says:

The Birds of North America web site says about the Brown Thrasher:
“Because of its tendency to forage on the ground and skulk in dense brush when disturbed, it is less often seen than heard.”
So, maybe they are just difficult birds to spot.
Incidentally, it would be a lot more convenient to send me an email, rather than to communicate here—I often don’t even think to look if someone has commented on one of my photos. If you want to be sure that I’ll see any question or comment, send it to: bobvuxinic@frontiernet.net

I have two brown thrashers in the hedges in my side yard in Tampa, Florida. They visit my bird feeder daily along with the doves, blue jays. red cardinals, hairy woodpeckers, red bellied woodpeckers and other friends ( squirrels).! Love them!
