Here in Western MA we currently have a male building a nest hole in the tree just above our suet feeder. He’s been hard at work this week, and there is a female who also comes to the feeder. Will be looking to, hopefully, photograph the pair feeding the young if they are successful.

Had a pair of Hairys nest just above where the Red-bellied is building his nest a few years ago – which resulted in the tree breaking off at the nest site and falling on the roof! Thank goodness is was a fairly small maple and did little damage. Guess they like nesting close to “free food!”

Ive been trying to get some picture’s of the red bellied wood pecker I hear him all the time I got a feeder but the squirrels and raccoons keep getting all the food So I’m going to have to put it out in the morning and take it in at night I hear a sure feeder might attract them Any suggestions
