Hey Bob:

This is a big irruption year for the Red-breasted Nuthatch. Same goes for me. It has been at least seven years since I have had a RBN at my feeder and now I have had several for the last month. Enjoy!

Hi Gary,
Don’t you always love the “first” and the “very seldom” visits! One disappointment for me recently was that I had dozens of Purple Finches visiting my feeders…right up to the first day of reporting for FeederWatch, and then not another one was seen; it was almost as though they planned it in order to remain anonymous!

Bob:

Yup, has happened to me also. You are all excited about recording your feathery friends and then “POOF” they’re gone. Actually, it’s the elusive “first” and “rare” visitors that make this adventure all the more interesting.

Gary
