G’day! I’ve been putting meat and bacon on a stand in a vineyard to attract ravens. It mostly feeds vultures but lately a rough legged hawk has been grabbing talons full of meat and flying off. Today, 1-12-2019 my stand was visited by two of these birds, distinguishable by the feathered legs and yellow-orange talons. I thought at first they were immature red tails, until I saw the feathered legs and feet.
I live up on Sonoma Mountain and am surrounded by forest.
