Description

I find these two species to be among the easiest to identify from a distance. First, the Tufted Titmouse because of its small size and uniform gray plumage. Even without spotting the distinctive crest, they are easy to distinguish from other small birds that frequent our back yard. The White-breasted Nuthatch is easy to spot as well – its flight pattern is often straighter than a Black-capped Chickadee’s hopping flight pattern and, of course, once on a tree, it hops skillfully head first down the trunk!
