Description

I was photographing a hawk in my Cottonwoods I’d never seen before. He turned his head southward, so I looked to see what he caught his attention. It was a second Swainson’s Hawk eating a bird on my neighbor’s coral fencepost! His “long, plaintive, whistled kreee” call was very distinctive, and helped me decide these hawks were Swainson’s.
