I noticed these woodpeckers — one pileated, one red-bellied, and three flickers, I think — during the bomb cyclone cold snap at the end of December 2022. They seemed to have spaced themselves evenly, and remained in place for quite some time.

Woodpeckers Cope With Cold Snap

During a cold snap (-9 F) these large woodpeckers repeatedly perched on the SE side of this tree, remaining frozen in place for up to 5 or 10 minutes.
