Participant Photo: African Collared-Dove or Eurasian Collared-Doves
This photo was taken today 5/21/18 at my feeder in Houston, Texas. I see Eurasian Collared-Doves sometimes, but this dove seems smaller and paler, closer to the size of a Mourning Dove. Also the ring around the neck seems less noticeable. Could this be an African Collared-Dove?

Going by your description, the African, (also known as the Ringed-turtle Dove), is a distinct possibility.
That’s an immature Eurasian Collared Dove. Not a Ring-necked Dove.
