Participant Photo: An unexpected visitor
Additional images:
An unexpected visitor to the feeder. I was watching (and of course photographing) birds like I do every morning. Then I saw a black and white bird fly down from my neighbor’s cypress tree. I thought the bird might be a chickadee, but I then saw that it was a woodpecker, a female Downy! Downies never come around here so I was surprised! She looked at the no-melt suet, decided she didn’t want it, and climbed up the stake to the other “berry” suet. She ate for a few seconds before being chased off by a squirrel.
