Spotted a baby downy in small, woody, overgrown area (my backyard). It was awkward, especially with gusts of wind today, but always managed to keep its footing — like a gymnast on the high bar. Couldn’t see any red on top of head; split tail feathers was main clue for me.
I live near the Atlantic Coast, on the barrier island east of the Intracoastal, about 31 degrees latitude.
