Participant Photo: Beautiful Falcon hunting in our yard
Just happened to walk by our front door when this Prairie Falcon landed in the feeder area of our yard. It didn’t catch anything but remained for about 3 minutes. That was all that it took for 3 Black-billed Magpies to show up and start mobbing it. The Falcon tolerated that for almost a minute and then flew off.
