Participant Photo: Black-capped Chickadee
The chickadees are building a nest in a hollow branch on one of the trees in our yard. It’s really interesting. As one is in the hole chipping at the wood, the other waits on a nearby branch. When the first one leaves the hole, with a beak full of wood chips, the other chickadee flies in, barley a second later. That went on for about an hour, then they took a break and after the break, they were right back at it. It was so fun to see, and really fascinating.
