We’ve stopped putting out seed for the summer due to a resurgence of finch eye disease, and now that we have fewer larger birds like quail, jays, and doves, it seems like the the more skittish bug eaters are spending more time in the yard. Usually the gnatcatchers stay hidden in the sage and are difficult to photograph, but now they are more often in the open.
