Participant Photo: Burrowing Owl
Zanjero Park in Gilbert Arizona was the former habitat of this Burrowing Owl. All the Burrowing Owls who lived there in man-made pipe structures built near agricultural areas. But they were relocated to Wild at Heart, a raptor rescue organization, because the city of Gilbert was rapidly expanding. Also, on January, 2021, a traffic interchange started being constructed. It was decided that this Burrowing Owl community would need to be removed in order to protect the species, but permanent homes would be found for them after 90 days. I am so happy I have a few photos I took of them in 2018!
