Participant Photo: Chestnut-Sided Warbler

The first of the fall migrants usually arrive like clockwork around the
1st of September in my area of the country. In the case of this particular
shot, it was gotten in Scott County KY. Among the migrants are a number
of warblers. This year, so far there has been a high number of
juvenile Chestnut-Sided and American Redstart warblers passing through.
Much higher numbers than I have observed in several years. Curiously,
there hasn’t been many adults among them. I am not quite sure what to
make of that. Either way, this is one of the better shots I have gotten
of these ‘young-uns’ lately. Find Hackberry, Honey Locust or Black Walnut
trees and you will likely find these little guys/gals!
