Participant Photo: Red-tailed Hawk
This magnificent Red-tailed Hawk was perched in our backyard Cottonwood tree for about 10 minutes. I was very careful not to disturb him from his resting perch while I took several photos from 25 feet away, hidden behind our Pinon trees.

Great picture, however, appears to be a Red-tailed Hawk.
Dale, thank you for catching my mistake! The black stripes in the tail confused me, but then once again I reviewed Merlin Bird ID photos and saw a Juvenile with the same stripes. Thanks for the compliment, I will post a few more pictures of this Red-tailed Hawk.
