Participant Photo: Female Pine Warbler
I have anywhere between 1 and 8 pine warblers coming to my feeders in the winter. After photographing them extensively, I have come to recognize the individual birds. This year, maybe because of the mild winter, I have only seen the adult male and this adult female, who has been coming more frequently. She sometimes drinks sap from the maple tree, and other times wants the suet and sunflower chips I’ve been offering. She’s an overall light gray and has far less yellow than any of the other birds in the group.

I’m lucky if I happen to be looking when Pine Warblers visit my yard. I’ve only spotted them for one or two days during their migration.
