Participant Photo: Female Sharp-shinned Hawk

This female Sharp-shinned Hawk perched in our back yard birch tree for about twenty minutes during our latest Project FeederWatch count period, making the back yard temporarily empty of the finches and woodpeckers that normally and regularly visit our feeders. We believe that this is the same hawk that has appeared in our yard several times earlier this winter.
