We have never seen this bird before, in fact it is not listed in the bird books we have. Thanks to Merlin we were able to identify it. But we don’t know much about it, where it is usually found and such.

According to eBird, these are normally only found in parts of Asia, however, there are a few sightings in California. Great find!
We just happened to look out the window at the right time.
