Participant Photo: Frozen!
There must have been a hawk in the area. This Hairy Woodpecker stayed still for many minutes. We have noticed a difference in how long the birds remain motionless in the forest areas and the urban areas. In the forest areas they remain still for much longer than birds in the urban area.
