Participant Photo: Get My Good Side Please

This is a male downy woodpecker that has been a regular at our feeders. We have named him “O-hi” because all of the birds fly away when we walk out into the yard but he just keeps on eating. He will stop and look over briefly as if to say “Oh, it’s you, hi there!” and then go back to his nut or suet feeding. In this image he is waiting patiently for a white-breasted nuthatch to make is selection from the nut feeder and leave.
