Participant Photo: Golden Eagle in Fairbanks White spruce-Birch forest
Additional images:
On Jan 4 we had a golden eagle land on one of our platform feeders. This is highly unusual for tow reasons: Golden Eagles generally do not overwinter here, although there is apparently a small number that overwinters on the north slope. AND, we live in a mature white spruce – birch forest – most definitely NOT golden Eagle habitat. The bird was seen by us and neighbors about 2 hours later. I will upload images.
