My yard backs up against mixed deciduous and evergreen woods, with lots of oak trees. As a result, gazillions (that’s a technical term) of acorns litter the ground each autumn. I leave lots of them there, because that provides something to eat for the deer that wander out of the woods during the winter. The Red-headed Woodpeckers also love the acorns. And, apparently, so do the Common Grackles, since a small flock of them descended upon my yard and had a great time cleaning up lots of acorns before they moved on.

We have crackles everyfall in our backyard. They surely do like our acorns from our pin oaks.
