Participant Photo: Hawk Identification
This hawk showed up yesterday and caught an injured rabbit feeding on birdseed near our feeders. Wondered if someone could give me a positive identification on it? I’m thinking maybe an immature Coopers Hawk?

I think what you have is a Red-tailed hawk. They are very variable so they can be difficult to ID. The dark belly feathers is common for all & the red tail isn’t always visible like here but it also has a rather short tail & if it’s big enough to take a rabbit, it’s likely a Red tail.
I agree
