Participant Photo: Heron lunching on avduckling
I was looking at a mother duck nesting and this heron flew past me and landed near the street. When I zoomed in, I realized he had snatched a duckling. He flung the duckling around and his poor legs were flailing, trying to get away. Apparently they play with their food before they eat it.
