Participant Photo: Juvenile Downy Woodpecker
I have a family of Downy Woodpeckers on my property. This youngster is here everyday.
I read that a lot of young have a little red spot on the crown of the head. Both sexes have them, not sure if this is male or female. This little one has a lot of growing to do.
