Participant Photo: Leucistic Acorn Woodpecker
There are two leucistic birds in the same location. One appears to be a male and the other a female. According to several people I’ve spoken to, they have been in the area for about two years and have obviously survived despite their conspicuous coloration. They otherwise live normally within a community of other ACWOs and are local celebrities.

Cool! I am in Nevada County Ca and have now identified 3 leucistic Acorn Woodpeckers in my local population (finally saw all 3 in one place at the same time)! I believe 1 of the 3 is a female. Very special.
