Participant Photo: Loon pair not in the mood for love.
For a second season in a row our beautiful loons have chosen not to nest. The lake’s water is high and the flies are bad. These two don’t need much to discourage them. I’ve only seen one chick survive in the last seven years.

I was too hasty. These loons are now nesting. They should hatch around June 27 in plenty of time to grow up and fly south.
