Participant Photo: No red on what looks like a yellow-bellied sapsucker ??

Hi Diane, Your location, and the feeding pattern shown in your photo above definitely lead to a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. Some female Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers have no (or reduced) red on their foreheads; additionally, juveniles look similar to adults but with the black on their head and breast replaced by brownish and subdued red-and-white head markings. Great find!
Same i saw sapsucker and cant figure out if it is a yellow bellied or red naped because it doent have red on its chin
