Participant Photo: Northern Cardinal – male – atypical pigmentation

This male Northern Cardinal has been seen at my feeders since the summer in 2023 – while moulting his feathers showed white areas on the breast, and a grey crest and tail, which has been maintained once moulting was complete. The upper bill also appears to have a thickened dark area on the surface.
