Participant Photo: Real Mallards or Mutants?

I’ve been watching a mom mallard and 8 ducklings since April 2020 at Allen Pond (in Bowie MD). As the babies got larger, these two started looking different than the others. The pics are from August and September. Are they mutant mallards or another type who just started hanging out with the regular mallards?
