Snow is rare in eastern North Carolina. The red-winged blackbirds flocked to our backyard feeders this week.

This is what my yard looked like last weekend too (Taberna). Common Grackles, Red-winged Blackbirds, Brown-headed Cowbirds: the big three of the Icteridae family! Would you believe these guys are related to Meadowlarks and Orioles?
