This is an introduced species in Orange County, CA. I see them frequently in nearby parks, school playgrounds, etc. but only once in a while do they show up in my yard. They are also known as Spice Finches and Nutmeg Mannikins

All spring, they have been feeding on seeds in the backyard, inland No County San Diego. Multiple fledlings seen starting May.
