Additional images:
We have had quite a few hawks come by this year, more than usual. This hawk at first landed on the deck rail, then went off and came back, sitting in the tree. We have observed smaller birds interaction with hawks in both a forest situation and an urban situation. The birds in the forest remain “frozen” for quite awhile even after the hawk is gone. In the urban area, the birds don’t seem as bothered by the hawk. They stay quiet, but not for as long and not as still.
