Participant Photo: Singing – I Am Here/Now Spring Is Here
Additional images:
When the robins arrive you know spring is near, but when you finally hear the Western Meadowlark’s song you know Spring is actually here! I have loved listening to the Meadowlark’s song all my life, but just recently learned how its name came about. It is named Meadowlark because it’s a bird of meadows & sings like a lark. I was surprised to learn it is not actually a member of the lark family, but belongs to the blackbird family. I am still amazed by what I learn each day and credit Project Feeder Watch for this. If not for trying to be an active participant I would miss out on so many interesting facts about birds, which most people take for granted.
