Participant Photo: Sleeping woodpeckers in our urban backyard

These 2 woodpecker species decide to have a sleep in our urban backyard in Edmonton, AB. They locked onto the trees, and tucked their heads back under their wings. A male Pileated Woodpecker and a male Northern Flicker. I’ve never seen this before, so it was interesting to have 2 species of woodpeckers do it within a few days of each other.
