I chose Snowy Plover to commemorate Earth Day because they are declining in number along the Gulf Coast and Pacific Coast due to human disturbance of their beach nesting habitat. I took these photos in the fall at Salinas River NWR which has large, protected areas set aside for Snowy Plover.
