This juvenile Coopers or Sharp-shinned hawk was sitting in a maple about 15 feet away from a feeder. I didn’t realize it had the pigeon until it flew.

Very thin streaks in breast says Coopers to me, a Sharpie would have more thicker course streaks on breast.

These are very cool. I live in Niskayuna – I see hawks around here all the time. There must be something about this area that makes them thrive.
