Participant Photo: Where’s the food?
I snapped this pic on a cold winter’s day in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Northern California. Though California Quail are ground dwellers they frequent my feeder year round despite the fact that I put the same food on the ground that’s in the feeder. We live on acreage with the perfect habitat for these beautiful birds. Both our pasture and yards have many trees, blackberry bushes and others bushes that make a safe haven for the Quail. I love watching the Quail with their chicks in the summer and enjoy watching the chicks grown from young babies to adults.
