Yes, it’s lots cheaper to make one’s own tray feeders. The hardest part is searching in the woods for straight branches of the right diameter. After that I screw four pieces together into a rectangle, then staple window screen fabric to the bottom for good drainage.
Then I figure a way to mount it, depending on whether I’ll hang it, or put it atop a post.
Wow, you’re so creative! I’ll have to go look in the woods and see if I can find any straight ones. I did recently clip out a bunch of saplings. Maybe I can have my husband cut of of those up for me with mitered corners to nail together. I have plenty of screen. Thanks for the tips!!
