Participant Photo: White-winged Dove
The White-winged Dove is a rare bird in Denver. This particular bird is interesting in that I’m pretty sure it’s the same bird that has visited the yard three winters in a row. The bird has a physical marker which makes it identifiable, it’s missing claws (nails) on two toes of each foot. It shows up in November and leaves in March/April. Not sure where it spends the other six months, but I don’t think it’s the Denver area as I see no Summer reports.
