Participant Photo: Yellow Bellied Sapsucker
Imagine my excitement one cold February morning to see not a Downy Woodpecker on the tree outside my back door, but a Yellow Bellied Sapsucker. They are always considered “rare’ in my location at this time of year though they are to be found. This guy hung out in my yard for a bit before moving on.
