Description

I initially thought that this woodpecker was suffering from the eye disease seen in the finches, but looking at the photo in close up, it appears not so much a disease as a deformity specific to this individual bird. Also, the deformity was only with this one eye; the other was normal. The bird also acted completely normally, so that when I observed it from the normal side, I didn’t notice or suspect that anything was wrong with the bird.
