Cardinal With Loss Of Feathers And Whiteness To Skin.

This Male Cardinal shows considerable loss of feathers (including the crest) on the head and face. In some places the normal black skin is evident, but there is also a whiteness, particularly around the eyes. It seems to behave normally and eats regularly.

One reply on “Cardinal with loss of feathers and whiteness to skin.”

Judy Beck says:

I have a cardinal that visits my feeder regularly and I am not sure if it is male or female. It has white feathers on it’s back with a red-orange crown and a streak of the same on the edge of it-s wing. Most of the feathers are white to light buff. I think it is a female yet I have never seen anything like it.Has anyone else?
