I have several house finches, both male and female, that have what appears to me severe eye disease. Some of these birds seem to be blind in one eye, as I can get way to close before they fly away. We discuss nfect feeders regularly and clean bird baths almost every day. Should I take down feeders before the count begins? For how long?

Eye disease in house finches
House finches getting horrible eye disease and dying here in Tucson, AZ too. Cleaned feeders with diluted bleach but am going to take feeders down for a while so sick birds will have fewer opportunities to infect the others. Going to ‘vacuum old seed from the ground as well.
