Both photos are still from my trail cam. 1st one shows a male N Cardinal with a little feather loss around his eye, taken in December 2019. I’ve been watching the progression of the feather loss in this individual bird. 2nd photo is how he looks today, 2-20-2020

Hi Jeannette, usually this is caused by molting, but based on the time of year it might be caused by mites.
