Description

This little House Finch came and sat in my feeder for probably an hour. The right eye was crusted shut and what looked like his “good eye” he kept squinted shut and basically rendered him blind. Even approaching the feeder he was unaware or simply unafraid and did not fly away for some time.

I don’t know why these photo posts don’t have dates! This angel should be taken to a rehabber. You can walk up behind slowly and cover quickly with a thin towel, cloth, or use a small butterfly net. Many *will* treat them for conjunctivitis, etc. There is an ongoing debate about whether, after treatment, they may get it again; but to me it’s always better to try. There have been studies done that show if the bird gets reinfected with it, it is often a weaker strain and not as debilitating.
