Description

This goldfinch was very “squinty” for the entire time that it ate at my feeders. It did manage to open its eyes fully on 2-3 brief occasions when it was startled by something (e.g. a house finch landing near it), but it seemed to prefer to keep both of its eyes mostly closed. It ate voraciously for a few minutes and managed to fly away, so I’m not sure what was going on with its eyes. It’s not at all typical for any birds I’ve seen at my feeders before.
